AI travel arrangements
I travel to conferences using my motorhome u2013 it makes me have a home from home and it is more fun for husband and dogs than being stuck in corporate hotel rooms in the city centre.u00a0 Itu2019s not easy to plan motorhome trips for a non-driving husband who wants something to do, with dogs that have access to rapid transport to get me to the right conference centre.u00a0 Factor in length of daily drive, stopping for dog walks, and the need to do online meetings and you end up with a set of criteria that travel agents wouldnu2019t touch!u00a0 Then there is the added complication of needing to find facilities or a campsite every few days to turn around the water (in and out) and more.
I start with specialist sites for motorhome travellers.u00a0u00a0
nThen train timetables .u00a0 Iu00a0 watch carefully for last train times, which can be staggeringly early when trying to get back in the eveningu00a0 u00a0u00a0
nI also check the walking routes as many go through dark, unlit pathways that Iu2019d prefer not to use at night.
My husband wants real ale, and the dogs want walks.u00a0 So I have to check the itinerary against opening times.
And I have to plan driving routes and stop-offs to walk dogs on the way!
Using ChatGPT AI to help with this planning seems like a great idea.u00a0u00a0

This is what I have found.

- It has no real idea of geography. A recent routing u00a0from Lincolnshire to Wiltshire included a 2.5 hour dog leg north.u00a0 It wasnu2019t asked for and it added considerable miles to the journey.u00a0 I have no idea why it took a fancy to the stop over in question! n
- It doesnu2019t know if a given location really exists u2013 it just uses the internet. I have to remember to ask it for links and phone numbers and do all the verification myself.u00a0 The most recent suggested itinerary also included a stop over in a pub that closed three years ago!u00a0 Husband would not have been at all pleased. n
- I can keep on refining the brief, which now includes donu2019t send me in the wrong direction and donu2019t send me to the most expensive restaurant in the county but I still have to keep checking what it is doing. n
It reminds me of having an office junior with infinite access to the web but no real common sense.u00a0 I had one once who booked me face-to-face meetings with no space between, so as one ended, another one started u2013 an hour away!u00a0 I had to tell them I need to go to the loo, pick up my car, pay and leave the car park, travel, then park and then walk to the next meeting.u00a0 You need to factor this in.u00a0 I had another one who booked me an overnight stay in Manchester that was nowhere near Manchester because the hotel name included the word Manchester!
nSo you could say that AI is just like that.u00a0 It may get better, but right now that is what you get.u00a0 Endlessly refining the brief so that mistakes are not made.u00a0u00a0 I can learn how to give better briefs and parameters, but this is only really worthwhile for things that are likely to be repeated.
And I donu2019t think Iu2019d ever rely on its outputs without checking them.u00a0
nThere is no way I can sue ChatGPT if I get lost or go down a road too narrow for my vehicle and it is damaged!u00a0
nThe liability is all on me.u00a0 It is up to us to use our common sense as AI doesn’t have any.
Is AI the future of contracts?
I was at a conference over the weekend where a lovely man said to me u2013 wonu2019t we all be usingu00a0 AI to write our contracts soon?
nI told him you need to be careful as if you know what you are doing you will get an American contract or an incomplete or even incorrect one.u00a0 He told me all he had to do was ask it to write a UK one!u00a0
And there you have it.u00a0 Did you spot the problem?
There is no UK when it comes to contracts, they all have to fit within English and Welsh Law, Northern Irish Law, Scottish law or the various Channel and offshore islands.u00a0 We write ours carefully to make sure they do and give you help on how to choose which one is right for you.
But heu2019d be following that dog leg detour on his contracts, only finding out too late that his contracts are not enforceable for him.u00a0 u00a0He’d spend a lot more on advice at that point than a KoffeeKlatch contract would have cost him (which includes advice) and the chances are the advice would be – your contract doesn’t help you.

nBut I did use Deposit Photo AI image generator to make me an image of a map with a lost motorhome on it and this is what I got!
I think the AI was way more lost than I have ever been even when I was on my way to Bosnia and went to Italy instead of Croatia by mistake.
