Irenicon’s FREE live KoffeeKlatch teleseminars are designed so you can sit down, dial in and talk about key issues that affect you or your business.

You will be spending an hour talking to an experienced expert working through what you and other delegates on the seminar want to know. It is not a pre-programmed webinar but a conversation designed to discuss your questions. There will be a plan for the conversation but it does not have to go in one particular direction.

We strongly urge you to register and spend a little time before the seminar thinking about what you might want to know. Once you have registered you will receive a link to register your questions.

Join us – all you need is a phone and somewhere quiet to be.

To successfully join our events, you must register no later than half an hour before the event. No recordings are circulated to non attendees.

Social Media Seminar - 20 September 2012 @ 11am

Social Media – A powerful marketing tool or recipe for conflict?

Social media can be a powerful marketing tool or a recipe for legal conflict.  What risks can you minimise through having good practice and contracts?

Should you have a social media policy for employees?  What should it say?  Should you just copy some other organisations policy or do you need something that supports your industry and your business?

Who owns social media contacts?  What are you rights if someone who works for you puts negative stuff up on their personal social media accounts?

Should you just ban it all?  How will that work in the modern social media age?   How about copyright breaches, libel and slander?  Who is liable?

Contracts for Managing Office Workers seminar – 23 May 2013 at 8pm

Many businesses use copied contracts or employment and handbooks.  This means you can be using out of date or inappropriate contracts that fail to give you the flexibility you need.

This one hour informal discussion is designed to help you understand where the legal minimums end and your decision making as a boss begins.  You’d be amazed how many bosses have been told they must do this or pay that when there is no such requirement.

If you have:

  • office workers with no contract of employment
  • contracts of employment you lifted from another organisation
  • contracts you you can’t understand yourself

Join us for this free seminar that will probably save you a lot of money

If you have already purchased a contract of employment or handbook from Irenicon or KoffeeKlatch, this free seminar will help you start accessing the real power and value of what you have in your hands.

Managing Volunteers seminar – 30 May 2013 @ 8pm

Volunteers are part of many business models – from social enterprise and charities to start ups we all need a little help from time to time.

What rights and responsibilities do volunteers have?

Can you pay volunteers?

It is just as important to get proper structures for managing volunteers as for any other person who helps.

Simply calling someone a volunteer doesn’t make them one.  How do you now when you have crossed the line and really should be having another set up altogether?  When does the tax man get interested?

It’s good to have a realistic idea of when this arrangement is appropriate (and when it is not).

Designed to go with our FREE volunteer agreement this practical discussion is about setting appropriate boundaries and expectations

Freelance Workers Seminar – 3 June 2013 @ 8pm

Managing freelance or self employed workers and their rights

Self employed contractors and freelance workers have a range of rights under employment law.  If you don’t know what they are and how to manage them you can be in for a surprise – they may not be freelance workers at all but employees.

If you think just calling everyone self employed means employment law has nothing to do with you, you are in for a surprise.

Even if your freelance workers are not your employee you still need to care the right contractual relationship to make sure you get what you are paying for whilst understanding what their legal rights are.

Talk to us about how to contract in the right way to have a relationship that gives you the rights you may simply be imagining you have at the moment.

Annabel Kaye you are a star! Thank you for a brilliant teleseminar yesterday about Freelance Workers , thoroughly enjoyed the session and it really opened my eyes as to how important it is to have proper agreements in place from the get go.   If anyone can make employment and contract law entertaining it’s definitely you!

“Having attended the KoffeKlatch seminar about Freelancing, I went on to purchase the Freelancer Agreement. The seminar was very interesting and brought up many things I hadn’t even considered when putting together a Freelance Agreement and discerning between what could be considered employed/self-employed status. It was great to have Annabel’s legal insight which has probably saved me a great deal of time and trouble.”

“I’ve just been on a fantastic ‘Freelance Workers and Agreements’ Teleseminar with AnnabelKaye. – Highly recommended”
